British Birds seeks new Board members
BB 2000 Ltd, the company that owns and manages British Birds, is seeking two individuals to join its Board. In addition to the general reasonability of ensuring good practice and direction within the company, BB 2000 Ltd is looking for an individual capable of fulfilling the role of treasurer, and an individual with a background in HR or company-personnel management.
In June 2025, Chris Spooner will end his ten-year tenure as the company’s Finance Director. We are looking for an individual to replace Chris who has experience of financial management and has proven general business skills. While a background in accounting would be helpful, the company uses an accounting firm to prepare the annual accounts and tax returns and provide necessary technical support. The day-to-day management of subscriptions, book keeping and dealing with the routine banking needs of the company are dealt with by a very experienced full time employee who needs little supervision.
As British Birds continues to diversify its range of staff including paid positions (full-time and part-time), contracted personnel and volunteers, so there is a growing need for a member of the Board who has knowledge of HR-related matters and employment law, and BB 2000 Ltd is seeking an individual who can be tasked with taking a lead on ensuring compliance with employment law and supporting the development of a positive working environment for all British Birds personnel. The role is voluntary and requires a commitment of around 2–4 hours per week.
A knowledge of the British birding scene is desirable though by no means essential in both cases. If you feel you might fit the bill for either position, we would invite you to email BB 2000 Ltd company Chair, Rob Sheldon vanellus1970@yahoo.co.uk.
